Hypnotherapy Today

Hypnotherapy is an ancient science, the earliest evidence of which goes back thousands of years.-The science of hypnotherapy has it's origins back in early history. As a therapy, it has become extremely popular and often recommended by the mainstream medicine. All major cities will have a hypnotherapy practice in their midst, often within a multi-disciplinary clinic.

The intension of hypnotherapy is to essentially alter some part of our behavior. Many people suffering with panic attacks, excess weight, habitual smoking, phobias, etc. have found hypnotherapy to be an effective cure. The work of the therapist is performed when the subject is in a state of trance where communication is performed with the subconscious mind. When in this state of trance, the therapist can bypass the conscious mind and achieve the desired results.

Trance induction is not a complicated process. Many techniques have been used over the years including: staring at a spot on the wall, swinging an object, like a watch, in front of the subject, or simply through speech. By using the voice, the therapist will use guided suggestions to help induce trance. The subject is encouraged to feel tension being released and relaxation spreading through their body. Having achieved the trance state, the therapist will then make carefully worded suggestions to the subject to promote the desired change. When the suggestions are complete, the subject is brought out of trance, often by the therapist counting then back out.

Whilst there are a vast range of variations of this process, the key components are the identical

The length of therapy, i.e. the amount of sessions needed, depends greatly upon the nature of the issues to be addressed. For people who smoke as a habit or for those with phobias and fears, a single treatment may be all that is required. More deep-rooted problems will often require anywhere from three to five treatments for the process to be effective. The positive effects of the treatment can be felt immediately. However, where deeper problems are being treated, the change can be slower as the subject adjusts to the shift.

Deeply repressed problems, long forgotten in the subject's subconscious are the cause of many problems treated by a hypnotherapist. Dealing with repressed issues whilst a person is in a trance, is a highly effective way of removing the negative impact on the individual. Symptoms of trauma can simply disappear and immediate recovery be felt.

Hypnotherapists help people heal from the past and see a postive future ahead. The results can be outstanding and the value priceless.
